There is a lot to like about the 2011 Bourgogne Chardonnay, which shows lovely purity and depth. Hints of dried apricots and flowers wrap around the expressive finish. This is a terrific effort at the Bourgogne level.

There is a lot to like about the 2011 Bourgogne Chardonnay, which shows lovely purity and depth. Hints of dried apricots and flowers wrap around the expressive finish. This is a terrific effort at the Bourgogne level. Anticipated maturity: 2012+. (Not yet released) Henri Boillot recently finished his move to a new modern cellar in Champ Lins, one of the industrial sections of Meursault. Boillot describes his 2011s as having a bit more richness and better balance of fruit and acidity than the 2010s. Based on what I tasted, it’s hard to argue that point. Boillot seems to be one case where the 2011s have the potential to be better across the board than the 2010s. As is often the case here, the village wines are particularly strong. An expressive nose of citrus, white orchard fruit and petrol notes leads to vibrant and well detailed middle weight flavors that possess solid mid-palate concentration and fine length on the clean, dry and delicious finish. There is noticeable gas on the finish so I would suggest either a quick decantation or allow this to air for 15 to 20 minutes first. Tasted: Jun 11, 2013. Drink: 2015+
