A very simple, one-dimensional La Fleur-Petrus that is holding onto life but showing very little depth or concentration. The nose is somewhat muted, but does offer up some dusty, earthy, loamy soil scents intermixed with the smell of underripe tomatoes and Provencal herbs. In the mouth, the wine is attenuated, compact, medium-bodied, and lacking concentration. Anticipated maturity: Now-2010. Last tasted, 3/02.

Very smooth but firmly structured. distinguished by cinnamon, anise and almost peppery flavors piled on layers of fine tannins and fresh ripe fruit. It's almost chocolaty in its richness and long-lasting on the finish. Drink now to 1998. 2,300 cases made. James Suckling, Wine Spectator 1990

About the producer
Château La Fleur-Pétrus was the first acquisition of many in Pomerol by Jean Pierre Moueix, who went on to own Château Trotanoy, Château Hosanna and most notably Pétrus. Jean Pierre Moueix was born in Corèzze in moved to Saint-Émilion with his parent in 1929 following the Great Depression.
