Tasting notes
The 2005 CHRYSEIA had a somewhat different blend this year--the winery leaned to Touriga Nacional (70%), a higher percentage than normal, with the rest mainly Touriga Franca. It has evolved nicely since my last note, remaining supple and approachable, but also showing good structure, the grip on the finish becoming more obvious with air. The flavors and aromatics have developed quickly and are far more pronounced since my last note. Mirroring the evolution of the ’05 Post Scriptum, there are some fairly strong, herbal and plum notes that have emerged on the nose and palate. Here, however, they seem better integrated into the whole. Drink now-2020. Prats and Symington is the well known collaboration between Bruno Prats of Cos d’Estournel fame and the Symingtons (Dow’s, Graham’s and other Ports). Importer: Premium Port Wines, San Francisco, Ca.; tel: (415) 554-9920.

Very dark and dark chocolate orange aromas. Chocolately black fruit. Fine, fresh, deep and dark. More perfumed than meaty. (JH)
