Medium red with a hint of amber. Musky aromas of redcurrant, leather, earth, licorice and dried rose, plus a suggestion of sweet butter. Juicy and savory, showing decent flesh, but distinctly imploded and a bit dry today, betraying a raw peppery quality. Finishes firm and persistent, but this youthfully tight wine will need at least a few years in bottle to harmonize and express itself.

Pale crimson. Rather raw fruit – pretty light and green. Much, much prefer their white Beaune Grèves! Austere and bitter on the finish. (JR)
(racked in September): Medium red. Reticent aromas of redcurrant and flowers. Sweet and suave but youthfully unevolved owing to the late malolactic fermentation. Juicy, nicely delineated flavors of raspberry and rose petal. Finishes with firm but sweet tannins and enticing lift. This holds out considerable promise.

Louis Jadot is arguably the most consistent négociant house in Burgundy. It has managed to straddle both the entry-level and fine wine market, while retaining respect in both.
