Leafy nose, not unpleasantly so. Then pretty sweet on the palate. And this finishes a little tart. But some good fruit in the middle. Slightly bitter finish. (JR)
Dark ruby/garnet, this delicious, elegant, classic 2008 is not the biggest or brawniest wine of the vintage, but it is a typical Bordeaux offering plenty of red and black currant fruit intermixed with licorice, cedar and spice box characteristics. Enjoy it over the next 4-5 years.
Very deep crimson. Sweet, modern, toasty nose. Hint of something green. Pretty brutal with some drying tannins on the finish. A St-Emilionais take on the Médoc? Not nearly as comfortable to taste as the Biturica group of Haut-Médocs I tasted not long beforehand... (JR)
About the producer
Louis Gaspard d’Estournel inherited Cos and Pomys in 1791, founding Cos d’Estournel in 1811, investing significantly in the property and expanding the estate from 14 to 45 hectares. The estate rapidly rose to prominence and the wines were exported around the world.
