Tasting notes
Peachy and fruit-driven. Really juicy with lots of floral character. Just perhaps slightly one-dimensional. (RH)

In the same mold, the 2012 Condrieu les Terrasses du Palat is a medium-bodied, juicy and laser focused effort that exhibits mineral-laced aromas of crunchy apple, buttered citrus and spice. As with the other 2012s, it will drink nicely (probably better in a year) for 4-5 years. Made by Francois Villard, with varying degrees of whole cluster fermentation, these wines shows the racier, focused and peppery side to Syrah. Bright acids, notable tannin and pure, clean flavors are the norm here. Given the high level of stem usage, the vast majority of these will benefit from short term cellaring. 100% Viognier. Very broad, savoury and appealing on the nose. Absolutely appealing on the nose. Broad and reminiscent of slightly putrid lilies – in a nice way! Solid. Not a silly price for such a distinctive dry white. Round but not heavy. (JR)
