Score 91/100 · Drink 2006-2018, Daniel Thomases, Wine Advocate, Apr 2006

Quite dark in color and heavily Bordeaux-influenced, the 2001 Chianti Classico Riserva Cellole from San Fabiano Calcinaia offers a sweet and tarry nose of cassis and minerals, additional notes of herbs, cedar, and minerals on the palate, and a long, dense finish. On its own terms, this is unquestionably a well made wine, the result of a serious and professional viticulture and winemaking. It relationship to Chianti Classico, however, seems, at best, peripheral. Drink: 2006-2018. Importer: unknown
