Full ruby. Wilder, more animal aromas of crushed blackberry and leather. Juicy and sweet but less dense and open than Mortet's '98 Gevrey-Chambertin Lavauz Saint-Jacques. Really implodes on the palate. This extremely young wine relies more for structure on its terrific penetrating acids than on its superfine tannins. Finishes very long and smooth, with notes of espresso and mocha.
