Good full red. Aromas of redcurrant, rust and tobacco. A bit more musky and less pure than the Latricieres, showing good density but a bit less lift and verve. Finishes firm but a bit dry, even narrow for grand cru. I find the Latricieres more seductive today.

Good medium red. Aromas of red and black fruits, smoked meat, caramel, minerals, menthol and pepper. Juicy and intensely flavored but youthfully tight, showing good life in the mouth. Plenty of inner-mouth perfume here. Finishes with dusty tannins and very good length. This is a hot spot, so the fruit ripened well, said Nicolas, but it was still harvested at the end, and 25% of the fruit was eliminated on the estate's vibrating sorting table. Nicolas noted that the family has some vines in the Gemeaux portion of this grand cru, which typically yields a firmer, more serious style of wine.
