Medium red. Medicinal cherry, strawberry, mint and crushed stone on the perfumed nose. Cool and laid-back on the palate; quite dry and classic, showing minty high tones to the cherry, raspberry, herb and pepper flavors. In a distinctly austere style and more obviously tannic today than the Clos de Beze. But displays lovely verve and lift on the lingering finish.

This is much more floral and not quite as spicy as the Bèze with relatively high-toned yet complex and serious notes of primarily stone-inflected wild red berries. There is outstanding intensity to the delicious, mouth coating and solidly well-concentrated medium-bodied flavors that exude a fine minerality on the superbly persistent, firm and austere finish. This is not quite as refined as the Bèze but it's slightly more complex and a bit longer as well. Tasted: Jan 14, 2013. Drink: 2023+
