Bottle 1: A healthy crimson – looks younger than the DRC 1978! Definitely still deep with ruby highlights but some definite oxidation. Sweet start but lots of acid and tannin. Too oxidised to really enjoy. Bottle 2: Malted milk and a bit fresher on the nose, but the acidity still comes through on the finish. Both these bottles seemed a bit tired. (JR)
