This added a surprising amount of weight since the mise and offers earthy, somewhat reserved fruit yet no austerity. There is good tannic structure underlying the earthy, dark fruit flavors, fine length and a touch of finishing warmth. Stylish and classy if not exactly monumental.

Full red-ruby. Black raspberry, leather, animal fur and coffee on the nose. Pliant and deep, with good but not outstanding structure and grip. Still, this is the chewiest and richest of these '99s, and the smoothest on the back end.
