1996 Chambertin

This medium-to-dark ruby-colored wine was crafted from older vines, and was only 50% destemmed. Its exquisitely perfumed nose is laced with black fruits, stones, and earth-like tones. On the palate, this medium-to-full-bodied, rich, thick, and powerful wine offers a mouthful of blackberries, cassis, and minerals. I was impressed by the depth and flavor intensity of this wine, however, its ultimate quality, will be determined by how well Meunier deals with its rough and tannic finish.
