Score 94/100 · Drink 2015-2038, William Kelley, Wine Advocate, Apr 2025
Like the 1997, the 1998 Chambertin Grand Cru remains impressively youthful, and it's better integrated, too, with its new oak more discreet. Offering up aromas of sweet cassis, cherries, dark berries and spices, it's medium to full-bodied, deep and seamless, with excellent purity and concentration, powdery tannins and lively acids. This was matured in a 130-liter feuillette and saw a very late malolactic fermentation, reflecting the cooler, higher-acidity vintage.
