Score 70/100 · Robert Parker, Jan 1998
In this very fine vintage for the wines of Barsac and Sauternes, Coutet is a disappointment. Extremely light and a little herbaceous, this is more akin to a dry Graves than a sweet wine. Last tasted, 12/80.

About the producer

Coutet
Classified as a First Growth in 1855, this Barsac property has a history stretching back to the 14th century. Today it has 38.5 hectares of vineyard, producing brilliant sweet wines cut by taut acidity. In certain years, it produces Cuvée Madame, pure botrytised Semillon from its oldest vines.
