Magnum. Pale gold. Light smoky nose. Hint of bananas – as though the youthful fruit impact were fading. Sweet finish with some green fruit acidity before then. Respectable persistence and slightly sour but not wonderfully distinctive – and clearly from somewhere much hotter than Burgundy! In bottle it is presumably even more mature. (JR)

The 2009 Chardonnay shows excellent varietal character and definition in its expressive, layered fruit. The excessively heavy style of years past has been replaced with more nuance and subtlety, all good things.
