Score 90/100 · Drink 2014-2020, Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW, Wine Advocate, Feb 2014

The deep garnet-purple colored and100% Shiraz 2012 Bishop presents a nose of warm blackcurrants, black plums and wild blueberries with touches of licorice, tar and game. Its full-bodied frame has plenty of juicy black berry flavors held in place by medium levels of grainy tannins, crisp acid and a finish with good persistence. Drink it now to 2020. (aged in 40% new oak, 90% of it French): Vivid purple. Highly fragrant aromas of candied cassis, blueberry and licorice, with pungent notes of vanilla bean, violet and mocha. Lush, intensely flavored and broad, offering deep black and blue fruit and vanilla qualities and an exotic floral nuance. Finishes smooth, smoky and long, with resonating spiciness and slow-mounting, supple tannins.
