Score 16/20 · Drink 2007-2008, Jancis Robinson MW, Aug 2007

Very ripe and yet with marked acidity – added? – and real chewiness but a bit of a hole in the middle. Apparently from 80-year-old Mourvèdre vines with a bit of Grenache. A bit tarry and uncomfortable to drink for the price. (JR)

A blend of 90% Mourvedre and 10% Syrah, the 2003 La Bolida Costieres de Nimes explodes from the glass with fabulous aromas of super-ripe black fruits as well as a hint of fresh herbs. Loads of spicy red cherries, blackberries, brambleberries, and notes of cassis can be found in the medium to full-bodied, expressive wine’s character. In addition, tangy black raspberries come to the fore in its appealing finish. Drink it over the next 5 years. *Note: This wine is a special cuvee produced for (and with the input of) its US importer, Robert Kacher. It is available only in the United States. Importer: Robert Kacher Selections, Washington, DC; tel. (202) 832-9083
