(10% vendange entier ; like the Chambertin, this is made from purchased wine): Good medium red. Vivacious aromas of red cherry, raspberry, orange zest and spicy oak, complicated by ineffable coriander and ginger high notes. Like liquid silk on the palate, but with outstanding lift and intensity to the flavors of raspberry, pomegranate, flowers and spices. Wonderfully suave, bracing finish features building flavor and a magically light touch. These Michel Toutant barrels of Allier oak were seasoned for five years prior to use, according to Marchand. This sleeping giant is still holding plenty in reserve.
