The 1978 Chambertin Clos de Bèze Grand Cru has quite a refined nose, with touches of leather and freshly tilled earth intertwined with dried blood/Tuscan delicatessen. The palate has a fresh and citric entry, with suggestions of orange rind and Morello cherries. It is not a deep Clos de Bèze, but there is a sense of cohesion and it lingers nicely on the finish. This has survived commendably. Tasted at the 1978 Bouilland horizontal.
