Full medium red. Great lift and sweetness to the multidimensional aromas of raspberry, white pepper, orange peel, spices and smoky minerals. An incredible stony expression of terroir, remarkably sweet and supple for a wine that already appears to be shutting down in the bottle. The penetrating flavors of raspberry, crushed stone and minerals show brilliant precision and sappiness. Finishes with serious but noble tannins and outstanding palate-staining length and thrust. This great grand cru resounds on the finish like very few Burgundies from this or any other vintage.

An endless bouquet redolent of violets, licorice, tar and spice melds into dark red and blue berry fruit. White flowers and mint add an exciting upper register to the brilliant, pure finish. Good full, bright nose. Vital aromas of raspberry, faded rose, crushed stone, mocha, noble herbs and tobacco leaf. Round, sweet and hugely concentrated, with harmonious acidity giving shape and energy, and an almost magically light touch, to the silky, pliant, very deep middle palate. The rose petal quality carries straight through to the mounting, mouth-staining finish. Rare balance and energy here, from vines planted at a density of 11,500 to the hectare.
