Tasting notes
The 2000 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Saint-Georges 1er Cru is showing some VA on the nose that offers confit-like red fruit underneath, later hints of leather and dried leaves develop. Indeed, the aromatics seem to calm down with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with quite rigid tannin, and a light but tangible marine influence but it feels rather blunt on the finish. Tasted at the Gouges retrospective at La Cabotte.

Revealing awesome aromatic depth, the medium to dark ruby-colored 2000 Nuits-St.-Georges Les Saint-Georges exhibits leather, cassis, and black olive scents. Medium to full-bodied, well-balanced, and intense, it is a soy sauce, black tea, smoke, blackberry, and tar-flavored offering. This complex, detailed wine displays a long finish loaded with nuanced flavors. Anticipated maturity: 2004-2012. Importer: Vineyard Brands, Birmingham, AL; tel. (205) 980-8802
Bright ruby-red. High-pitched, more austere aroma of red berries and minerals. Sweet, vibrant and perfumed but quite closed after the last few wines. This has terrific spine for the vintage. Finishes very fresh and firmly tannic, with a note of bitter chocolate and excellent length.
