The profound 1996 Barolo Capalot Riserva boasts a dense, ruby/purple color, and a pure nose of black cherries, raspberries, and blackberries. Layered and multidimensional, with a sweet mid-palate and a blockbuster finish, this is an immense, full throttle Barolo that should age effortlessly for 15-25 years. Impressive! Saturated deep ruby color. Violet, mint, blackberry and cassis on the high pitched nose. Very concentrated and firm; wrapped up in its strong acidity today. The floral quality carries through in the mouth. Finishes with great length and substantial sandy tannins. But appears to have enough sheer density for balance.
