Tasting notes
The understated, restrained 2000 Cabernet Sauvignon Cyril Henschke, an Eden Valley blend of 90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Merlot, and 5% Cabernet Franc, offers notes of red currants, bay leaves, licorice, and dusty, loamy, earthy scents. While medium-bodied and pure, it lacks persistence in the finish. Importer: Negociants, USA, Napa, CA; tel. (707) 259-0993

(contains some merlot and cabernet franc) Red-ruby. Fresh aromas of black- and redcurrant, loam, graphite and mocha. Juicy and penetrating, with nuanced flavors of strawberry, milk chocolate, cedar, minerals and sexy woodsmoke. Not a fleshy or particularly ripe wine but finishes with reasonably sweet tannins and very good length.
