Score 87/100 · Drink 1998-2003, Robert Parker, Feb 1998

A fine effort from La Dauphine, the 1995 reveals more fat, fruit, and lushness than its 1996 sibling. The color is a healthy dark ruby, and the nose offers aromas of cinnamon, black cherries, currants, and spice. Revealing a lovely combination of fruit and spice, this round, medium-bodied wine possesses excellent concentration, low acidity, and a precocious appeal. Anticipated maturity: Now-2003.

Fresh red color. Rather sauvage aromas of currant, game and leather. Thick, sweet and layered; shows strong inner-mouth flavor and a hint of rusticity. Sound acids give the wine good balance. The tannins are buffered by middle-palate material.
