Tasted blind at Farr Vintners 2007 Bordeaux tasting. The 2007 Latour-à-Pomerol has a well-defined bouquet with earthy red berry fruit mixed with orange blossom and strawberry pastilles. There is commendable definition here, if not the vigor of a top vintage. The palate has a savory, almost dried blood tincture on the entry. There is fine tension and impressive harmony leading to a poised and autumnal finish. Drink this over the next 5-8 years. Tasted March 2015.
Deep lustrous crimson. Heady, vibrant and interesting nose. (Interest can be lacking in this vintage.) Not at all dense but well balanced and juicy. Pretty light and I’m not sure it is recognisably Pomerol but it’s a ‘pleasant’ claret. (JR)
Bright ruby-red. Reticent nose hints at licorice. Suave on entry, then fine-grained and a bit withdrawn in the middle, with slightly medicinal black fruit and spice flavors lifted by a peppery element. Nicely balanced, though. Finishes with a riper suggestion of dark chocolate.
