Tasting notes
An herbaceous, tobacco, weedy, cassis-scented nose jumps from the glass of this medium-bodied, dark ruby-colored wine. The ideal picnic wine, the soft, round 1993 Haut-Batailley should be drunk over the next 5-6 years.

Attractive black cherry and currant aromas and flavors, medium body, firm tannins and a slightly simple finish. Drinkable now. James Suckling, Wine Spectator 1996.

About the producer

The Cazes family – owners of Lynch-Bages and Ormes de Pez – purchased Haut-Batailley in 2017. They’ve embarked on a significant replanting programme, and exciting things are likely to come from this address with its new backing.
