The 2009 Gevrey-Chambertin Petite Chapelle is another wine that seems to speak more of the house style than the year. Silky, polished tannins frame layers of fruit on the sensual, explosive finish. The Petite Chapelle impresses for its pure breed. It is just as fabulous from bottle as it was from barrel.

Dark red. Explosive, very ripe aromas of black raspberry, game, spices, licorice, coffee and mocha. Sweet and fat with fruit; a bit exotic but with serious depth of dark fruit, spice and licorice flavors. There's nothing brutal about this fleshy, harmonious wine. Dugat vinified this wine with a lower percentage of whole clusters than his other 2009 premier crus. Very round for a wine at this address, with the ripe tannins nicely enrobed by mid-palate stuffing.
