Saturated ruby-red. Superripe but not roasted on the nose, offering raspberry, dark chocolate, mocha, licorice and minerals. Wonderfully sweet and creamy but with adequate framing acidity. This, too, is dense and thick yet light on its feet, and offers outstanding palate coverage. Finishes with suave, sweet tannins and superb length.

Produced from a parcel primarily owned by Bernard Dugat’s son Loic, the 2003 Gevrey-Chambertin Petite Chapelle is a firmly structured effort. Its black raspberry and dark cherry scents lead to a medium to full-bodied character with a velvety-textured attack as well as mid-palate. This cassis and black cherry-flavored wine’s finish displays highly present, solid tannin. Drink it between 2008 and 2014. Importer: Weygandt-Metzler, Peter Weygandt, Unionville, PA; tel. Bright medium ruby. Wild, reduced aromas of blackberry and animal fur. Then fat, creamy and broad in the mouth; more expressive than the Lavaux, with an impression of lower acidity. Very ripe flavors of game and chocolate. This shows the fleshy side of the vintage, but there's also plenty of sap.
