The 2001 Barolo Bricat Le Gramolere shows the signs of early maturity. Some of the fruit has dropped out as tertiary notes have begun to develop. Sweet herbs, tobacco, mint and dried cherries are some of the many notes that are woven together in this attractive, mid-weight Barolo. The 2001 is best enjoyed over the next few years, before the fruit becomes too ethereal.

Unfortunately my bottle of the 2001 Barolo Le Gramolere was the victim of a flawed cork and therefore impossible to evaluate. The medium ruby 2001 Barolo Bricat Le Gramolere presents a deep nose of spices, flowers, herbs, toasted oak and vanilla. It is dense and long on the palate, with plenty of dark fruit, mineral, toasted oak and menthol flavors emerging from the glass, although the tannins remain a bit rough, and an element of greenness mars the finish.
Good deep red. Reticent aromas of dark berries and nutty oak. Full, sweet and fairly primary, with red berry, floral and mineral flavors along with a faint mintiness. My enthusiasm was somewhat tempered by a slight greenness on the back end, but this wine may simply be in a somewhat stunted stage today.
