Tasting notes
More interesting is the 2009 Cote Rotie Rose Pourpre. Its dense ruby/purple color is followed by copious aromas of heady black raspberry fruit intermixed with licorice, incense and smoky oak. This flavorful, full-bodied, ripe 2009 should drink well for 10-15 years. Importers: North Berkeley Wine Imports, Oakland, CA; tel. (510) 336-9880 and Cynthia Hurley French Wines 617-965-4251

100% Syrah. Meaty nose. Complex. Not the most typical Côte Rôtie – sort of halfway to a LaLa – but sincere and well made. I do prefer the regular version though... (JR)
