Score 93/100 · Drink 2017-2030, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, May 2017

Tasted at the Musigny dinner in London, the 1978 Musigny Grand Cru from Jacques Prieur has an attractive bouquet with raspberry preserve, wild hedgerow, a touch of chlorophyll and shucked oyster shell. This 1978 sports admirable delineation and after almost forty years, impressive freshness. That comes through on the medium-bodied palate that is well balanced, a little more rustic than the 1985 in direct comparison, yet unquestionably harmonious with plenty of dark berry fruit mixed with Earl Grey and clove towards the elegant finish. This is drinking perfectly now and does not seem inclined to fall apart any time soon. Then again, why wait? This is excellent. Tasted March 2017.
