Tasting notes
Just mid ruby with orange rim. Concentrated on the nose. Big structure and just a little warm on the finish, yet convincing and with real depth. (WS)

Good saturated deep red. The most pristine of these Barolos to this point, offering aromas of black cherry, blackberry, licorice, mocha and menthol. Sweet, ripe black cherry fruit is complicated but not overwhelmed by a hint of leather, with sound acidity giving clarity and energy to the wine's silky middle. Finishes sweet and broad, but with the vibrancy and medicinal reserve to support a leisurely evolution in bottle.
The 2007 Barolo Ginestra is soft, plush and incredibly inviting. It shows plenty of textural richness and finesse to balance the firm Ginestra tannins. Dark cherries, plums, mint and flowers wrap around the sensual yet substantial finish. This is always my favorite wine at Conterno, and the 2007 is positively singing today.

Anticipated maturity: 2015-2025. Proprietor Giorgio Conterno’s strength lies with the Nebbioli from his holdings in the Ginestra vineyard. Conterno makes a wide range of selections, but the straight Barolo Ginestra is his finest wine year in, year out. A Marc de Grazia Selection: de Grazia Imports; tel. (417) 732-4200
