Bright red. Spicy blackcurrant and licorice aromas are complemented by potpourri and smoky minerals and perked up by a hint of black pepper. Deep in dark fruit flavor but in no way heavy, with silky tannins adding support. Gains power on the back end and finishes with lingering notes of kirsch and dark berries.

Bright red. Peppery red berry aromas are complicated by dried flowers, baking spices and smoked meat. Very syrah on the palate as well, showing energetic red and dark berry, beef jerky and floral pastille notes. Dusty tannins add grip to the long, spicy finish, which repeats the red berry notes.

Complete and sumptuous nose. Not opulent but admirably pure. Quite notable acidity. (JR)
