The 1980 La Conseillante is "mean and woefully under-ripe", which is no surprise given this was a dire vintage across most of Bordeaux and this estate was suffering from under-investment. Approach with caution! Tasted blind and taken from the book "Pomerol".

Light ruby. Some real richness too. This transports me back to my early days writing about wine! Some chaptalisation surely? Not very noble. A bit jagged. Hollow. Lots of acidity. (JR)
