Pale bright yellow. Very stony aromas of peach, apricot and grilled nuts. At once thoroughly ripe and quite dry, with its primary fruit flavors currently dominated by a strong dusty stone element. This very backward but scented Perrieres saturates the palate with spices and minerals.

The richness and structure of the vintage come through in spades in Drouhin's 2010 Meursault Perrières. Layers of finely knit fruit caress the palate as the Perrières opens up in the glass. This is another open, accessible wine that should drink nicely pretty much upon release. In relative terms, I am surprised how well this is drinking today for a young Perrières.

This is another open, accessible wine that should drink nicely pretty much upon release. In relative terms, I am surprised how well this is drinking today for a young Perrieres. Anticipated maturity: 2013+. This is a striking set of wines from Drouhin. Veronique Drouhin describes 2010 as a year with cool temperatures in July and August, but much better weather in September. As is the case throughout the region, I found the Pulignys especially ripe and exotic. I also tasted a range of the 2011s. Drouhin told me she thought the wines would need a little extra time in barrel to give them more body and volume. Importer: Dreyfus Ashby & Co., New York, NY; tel. (212) 818-0770
