Score 87/100 · Drink 2015-2025, Robert Parker, Jun 2015
The 2005 Coufran is much more concentrated than normal, with a big, rich, black cherry, earthy, spicy mouthfeel. Medium-bodied, with a long, heady power and richness, this is a seriously endowed, much bigger than usual Coufran to drink over the next decade or more.

Smokiness dominates the nose at the moment but there’s still evidence of fresh and aromatic cassis underneath. Rich and yet juicy. A slightly leafy aftertaste may not to be everyone’s taste but it does finish fresh. (JH)

Quite a rich nose and some farmyard elements. Solid and straightforward. Quite chewy tannins at present. (JR)
