2008 Espectacle del Montsant

The 2008 Espectacle del Montsant has a very distinctive, oyster shell-scented bouquet that expresses its terroir extremely well, hints of fennel emerging with continued aeration. The palate is fleshy in the mouth with notes of mulberry, raspberry and a curious, faint touch of anchovies. Very well-balanced and individual with a honeyed texture, it deftly disguises its 15% alcohol. This intriguing Montsant should age nicely over the next decade. Drink 2013-2023. Located in the commune of La Figuera, just outside the DO of Priorat, Espectacle is a two-hectare parcel of 100-year-old Garnacha owned by Christopher and Charlotte Cannan, Rene and Isabelle Barbier and Fernando and Marta Zamora.
