(I tasted this from a new barrel; the blend will be 50% new oak): Bright medium red. Musky nose dominated by smoke, vanilla and spices. Round and silky but quite dry, with the spicy oak element dominating the wine's underlying fruit today. Hard to judge today but shows more finesse and texture than the Cote de Nuits-Villages.

A discreet touch of wood sets off the very fresh and cool red currant, earth and a touch of the sauvage. There is supple and attractively textured quality to the middle weight flavors that offer good verve on the balanced finish. A quality villages. Tasted: Jan 14, 2013. Drink: 2017+
