Tasting notes
Bright ruby-red. Sauvage, highly expressive aromas of dark berries, coffee, licorice, game and pungent dried herbs. Densely packed and sweet, with terrific complexity, precision and intensity to the soil-driven fruit, game and mineral flavors. Juicy today and supple rather than fleshy, but the wine's suave tannins and superb persistence suggest it will ultimately merit a higher score. Finishing notes of violet and licorice.

(racked) Very good ruby-red. Discreet aromas of blackberry and minerals. Suave and fine-grained, with highly nuanced flavors of black fruits, violet and dried rose. Harmonious acidity gives this wine terrific life in the mouth. The flavors really elevate toward the back. A Mazis of great finesse. Finishes extremely long and bright, with solid but fine tannins. Today Dugat prefers this to the Charmes.
