The 2010 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Pruliers 1er Cru is more intense on the nose compared to the 2009; also earthier and perhaps without the same comely charm. There is just a touch of greenness here, pleasant and not detrimental, yet you cannot ignore it completely. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin and finely judged acidity. This exudes finesse and poise, gaining more depth towards the finish with a potent mineral note that defines that aftertaste. It needs three or four more years in bottle but it will be worth the wait. Tasted at the Gouges retrospective at La Cabotte.

Medium red. Reduced, musky aromas of redcurrant, tobacco and game. Sweet and bright in the mouth; youthfully tight but with intense red fruit, spice and licorice flavors nicely perked up by integrated acidity. Offers excellent volume and breadth without any undue weight. The bright, rising finish features suave tannins and lingering spice and licorice notes. This nicely perfumed Nuits-Saint-Georges will need a good six or eight years of cellaring.

Stolid and concentrated. Quite pruney fruit with a dry finish. Marked acidity. I sense potential rather than charm here. (JR)

Good bright, deep red. Aromas of boysenberry, licorice and spicy oak, plus an element of animal reduction. In a sweeter, fruity style but at the same time a bit more aggressive and less pliant than the Porrets St.-Georges. Big, ripe, dusty tannins give the savory, spicy, long finish an impression of power. Boasts excellent carry-through on the back.
