Score 89/100 · Drink 2016-2022, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Feb 2016

Healthy dark red. Balsamic, slightly autumnal notes to the aromas of wild raspberry, spices, smoked meat and truffle. Fat, smoky and very savory; more about saline soil tones than fruit. Nicely balanced wine, as the tannins are smooth and soft and the acidity well-integrated. Still has energy but will be an old wine on the nose soon. I'd enjoy this in the next few years. This vintage was made by Romain Lignier, who tragically died from a brain tumor in 2004, at the age of 34.

Red-ruby. Highly perfumed nose of raspberry, red cherry and flowers. Then tough and backward in the mouth, with small wild red fruits currently dominated by minerals and menthol. But the wine's juicy acids and long finish suggest that it will reward six or seven years of cellaring. A bit like a baby Bonnes-Mares in style.

The medium-bodied 2002 Chambolle-Musigny Les Baudes offers a beguiling nose of violets and blueberries. Medium-bodied, it fabulously broadens on the palate, revealing syrupy cherries, roses, and blueberries. Soft, concentrated, and lush, this velvety-textured, feminine beauty also displays a long, fruit-packed finish. Anticipated maturity: now-2011. Ruby-red. Pure but restrained, fruit-driven aromas sweetened by oak. Sweet and tender, with ripe acids framing the berry flavors. Less fat than the old-vines Morey but the fruit and tannins are thoroughly ripe.
