Score 88/100 · Pierre Rovani, Jun 2005
Traditionalists will dislike the 2002 Savennieres while lovers of oaky Chardonnays will find my rating overly conservative. Owned by the Germain family of Bordeaux, this estate ferments and ages (for 12 months) 20% of its wine in new oak barrels and the remainder in stainless steel tanks. Its sweet oak and marzipan aromas lead to a spicy, medium-bodied character filled with vanilla bean as well as almond flavors. Plush, yet focused, this well-balanced effort also displays a long, supple finish. Drink it over the next 4-5 years. Importer: Simon N Cellars, Charlottesville, VA; tel. (434) 977-4476
