Tasting notes
Bright ruby. Seductive dark berry liqueur aromas are complicated by Asian spice and smoky minerals, with a suave floral character slowly emerging. Shows brighter red fruits on the palate, picking up violet pastille and smoky oak spice on the finish. There's an elegance to this that's impressive in light of its concentration.

A candidate for one of the finest St.-Josephs of the vintage, Cuilleron’s 2005 St.-Joseph Les Serines is a blockbuster wine with a dense purple color and a big, sweet nose of blueberry, blackberry, pain grille, olive, and earth. Full-bodied, with super purity, fabulous intensity, minerality, and richness, this is a stunner. Drink it over the next 10-12 years. Importer: Rosenthal Wine Merchant Ltd., Pine Plains, NY; tel. Opaque ruby. Powerful oak spices accent ripe blackberry and candied plum, with whiffs of white pepper and violet adding lift. Full and deep, with ripe dark berry flavors and a surprisingly elegant, silky texture. Nothing rustic here, and it's impressively suave for its size and weight.
