Tasting notes
Pretty pale ruby. Heady nose with a hint of mushrooms. Quite intense and subtle and smudgy. Lots gong on here with Vosne energy working its magic. Quite long. Acidity no longer the main feature. Very persistent. (JR)

Healthy pale ruby. Fresh mossy nose – very direct undergrowth here. Still notable acidity but, there is more fruit here too than in many 1996 burgundies. Very ramrod straight and correct. It doesn't seem on the way down yet, even if there is not that much stuffing. Like a straight look in the eye from Henri Jayer (who made it). Quite persistent. Neat. Quite a triumph for a 1996 village wine. (JR)
This dark ruby-colored wine displays spicy red cherry and raspberry scents, and an unbelievably elegant, oily, fresh, and flavorful core of cherry and strawberry fruit. Medium-to-full-bodied, dense and fleshy, this wine is structured, yet seductive and opulent. Anticipated maturity: 2000-2006. Importer: Martine's Wines, San Raphael, CA; tel. (415) 485-1800.
