The 1982 Suduiraut is the odd man out. In a period when the château languished in the doldrums, the 1982 pulled victory from the unlikeliest growing seasons. The bouquet shades the 1983 and the 1986 with effervescent Japanese yuzu, marmalade and apricot aromas, developing attractive candlewax notes just behind. The palate is well balanced with just a touch of crème brûlée, lime cordial and honey, fanning out gentle towards the well defined finish. One of the unexpected delights from Sauternes in this vintage. 95gm/L residual sugar, 13.6% alcohol, 4.53gm/L acidity.

Dark tawny. Rich but also managed to be extremely fresh and lively. Great stuff! It looked much older than it tasted. (JR)
Tasted from a half-bottle at Cordeillan Bages and served blind, this is better than any 75cl bottle that I have tasted. It has a glorious nose of dried apricot, honey and candle wax with hints of creme brulee in the background. The palate displays very good weight and poise with a harmonious quince, marmalade and lime tinged finish. Exquisite in its own unpretentious way. Tasted April 2011. Neal Martin, eRobertParker.com
