Deep red. Nose is at once medicinal and liqueur-like, offering plum, redcurrant, mocha and smoke. Fat, sweet and a bit exotic, with a candied, liqueur-like aspect to the fruit, which verges on cooked. This, too, finishes with substantial dusty tannins.

Good medium red. High-toned aromas of black cherry, currant and flowers, with an exotic suggestion of banana. Supple, sweet and pliant, showing the richness of the vintage. Distinctly exotic suggestions of banana and pineapple. Finishes with sweet tannins, a hint of licorice and very good length.
