The 2005 Reynon is really quite respectable for a wine of its very modest price. Sure, it was probably better a few years ago, and the fruit is drying out. There is still good depth, yet there are signs of oxidation in the aromatics. Quite frankly, most wines wish they could age this well.

From the famous estate owned by one of Bordeaux’s leading and most influential oenologists, Professor Denis Dubourdieu, this wine is a blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon. A soft, round, juicy 2005 with a deep ruby/purple color, loads of blackcurrant and black cherry fruit, a soft underbelly of tannin, and medium body, this wine is coming up quickly and should drink well for another 5-6 years.

Deep crimson. Notable complexity on the nose. Very youthful and introvert but with lots of liquorice and some well-polished tannins. Still a little bit of green in the mix there. But this should bloom into a really lovely bottle eventually. (JR)
