Deep, vibrant purple. Mouthfilling and rather glamorous and racy. Good balance. Lots of dry tannins but good concentration of fruit too. Mulberry savour. Probably a good buy. (JR)

Bright red-ruby. Cool aromas of black cherry and chocolatey oak. Sweet and pliant in the mouth, with easygoing flavors of currant, black cherry, chocolate and licorice. Seems rather gently extracted. The tannins build on the back but avoid dryness.

The 2003 Rollan de By exhibits a dense ruby/purple color along with fat, fleshy fruit flavors, good delineation, soft tannin, low acidity, and a long, heady finish. A sleeper of the vintage, it should drink well for a decade.
