Figeac is always entirely of itself and the 2012 showed characteristic savoury character. The fruit is very dark with a touch of floral fragrance on the nose. The palate is restrained with fine-grained tannins. Crisp and not pushed. This is assured and hangs together well. Very good. FINE+RARE

The 2012 Figeac is really beginning to come into its own and entering a sweet spot. This is the best I've had. Now more open on the nose, it has a wonderful bouquet with black fruit, cedar and blood orange, perhaps still with a patina of new oak to be fully assimilated. The palate is very pure and well-defined, linear and "strict" in a Médoc manner, whereas previous bottles have more of a peacock's tail. This just makes it more enticing. Tasted at the private room at Noble Rot Soho.

The 2012 Figeac has a broody and backward bouquet with black fruit, autumn leaves, truffle and cedar. Not unlike Lafleur. The palate is fresh on the entry with pliant tannins, open and generous, layers of red fruit with a dash of white pepper and allspice. It fans out wonderfully towards the finish that just lacks a bit of persistence. The second bottle at Bordeaux Index's tasting shows a little more spiciness on the finish. Tasted blind at the Southwold Ten-Year On tasting.
